Nick was our visiting speaker this Sunday and in his talk he encouraged us to trust in God’s strength and grace.
King Amaziah (2 Chronicles 25) trusted in God’s strength rather than his own army, but following victory in battle he turned away from God. We often think we need many things in life, but this isn’t the case – if we trust in God, he will find a way for us. It’s important to stay connected to God in the good times as well as the bad.
Our past can be a source of worry and regret. Paul is a good example for us: writing to the church in Corinth (2 Corinthians 12), he acknowledges the mistakes of his past but is also prepared to use these experiences for good. Whatever problems we face, we can trust that God’s grace is all we need. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
